ADNA 25th Anniversary Celebrations a Great Success!
17th May 2008 - the day of the much anticipated ADNA 25th Anniversary celebrations finally arrived. Posh clobber was donned, taxis were booked, and hair was sprayed to within an inch of its life, and finally the attendees were ready to head to the Northern Hotel for a night of fun, reunion, and prize giving. As Andrea McDougall rightly observed - 'over 100 netballers in one room, and not a sports bra in sight'. Although I was reliably informed later that there were several examples of 'Spanx pants' in the room - a sports bra for your bum I suppose.

Party goers were greeted / harassed / interrogated / generally amused by the Paparazzi! Probing questions, leading questions and woefully mistaken identities were provided courtesy of Blitz Entertainment - making us all feel like celebrities for a few minutes at least!

Inside, the room was set, and the trophies laid out ready to be awarded. The room soon filled up as everyone arrived and took their seats, ready for the evening to get under way. People were greeting friends, old and new, and there were many whisperings of who other people were, especially with the attendance of so many past ADNA members, and of some of the original ADNA members.
The evening kicked off with a lovely meal to give everyone enough energy to keep on dancing until the close of play. There were no 'fixed' tables, allowing people to mix and sit where they chose, with friends, team-mates or old adversaries from the netball courts. There was no top table which added to the air of friendliness about the evening, and made everyone feel part of one big team!
After the meal came the speeches and prize giving. Along with the season winners and runners up, there were also lifetime achievement awards for people to whom ADNA owes a great deal. Chairmen past (and present!), original members of the steering committee and people who have contributed so much to the success of ADNA over the years.
All in all it was a great evening, and their were smiles all around. Good luck to those organising next year's event - there's been a high standard set!!
